i bought this clam about a year ago, i was told at the time that the 130 w of pc i have would be ok for it. It was 30 bucks so i thought i'd take a chance. like i said i have had it for a year, the colors are bright blue particularly when looking from above and the shell has grown since i have gotten him. (like two three new ridges on edge of shall.)

I always thought of the clam of the one mistake that i have purchased since i started my tank. I don't have MH and it was an impulse buy. Others i know have told me that since i have had i so long and it seems ok then i should be fine. Just wanted some opinions from people that have clams and are more knowledgeable than myself and the others i have spoken too. I do not know what kind of clam it is either so any id would be cool. From what i have read the lower the light the more they will open to compensate.

here is a pic

are you feeding phyto?? There are more and more sucess stories with clam owner using lighting different that mh (I use T5). Looking good! Do you have a full tank shot?

i have a tank full of lps and some softies, i feed phytoplan and cyclopeeze every couple days and feed frozen food a few times a week for sun polyps. i have an old full tank shot, things have changed some since this pic. got rid of some corals and changed w/ new.
full tank.

i use T5's and my 10 clams are all very happy... so long as your clam is looking good i would not worry...

looks healthy, and if it has made it this long i doubt itll have any problems in the forseeable future, id still upgrade to t5s though, JMO though, and youve been doing fina all along- nice work, like the tank, keep it up

my guess would be a crocea clam, and if it has been fine for a year then leave it, it seems happy to me
