Clam Spawing questions

It was suggested to me to put them on a flat rock for the foot to grab on to. The theory being that once the foot secures to the rock they can close the hole tight enough the worms can't get it.

It has worked for my croceas so far...

Did you check for any pyramid snails? These are clam killers.

yeah there were no snails I have lost all of my clams. I did however send one off to pathology and I got the report back today. My first tought was correct there was some protozoa killing them off one by one. Does anyone know the latin name for the PM bug? Is there any treatment for it? Also Now that all of my clams are gone Do I need to worry about this in my water or would it be safe to wait a week or so and get a new one?
