Clam took a dive

My Crocea desided to take a dive last night over the side of it's rock. I have heard of this happening before but this is odd for other reasons. The past day it has looked upset with only slight mantle extension, however this morning it looks to be happy. This is only odd because when it jumped it left behind a bunch of the threads that attached it to the rock. I would think that it would be mad, uncomfortable and not doing too well. I am going to keep an eye on it today but is there anything else I can do other than leave it alone?

if unhappy the clam can let go of his byssal thread to move with no problems.

can you tell us a bit more about the your tank and how long you've had the clam? (lighting, clam location, flow, dosing, fish and inverts, etc )

and post a pic if you can.

I have a 150w MH just a few inches above my tank. the crocea I have had for about a month and was doing more or less fine (from what I could see). He started to bleach out a bit around his mouth so I moved him up a bit (figuring he was not getting enough light). I know the crocea are in need of intense light. The only fish that could possibly be a problem is my flame angel who I have never seen go anywhere close to the clam. The only invert other than snails would be my cleaner shrimp. Moderate flow in both locations and the only thing I dose is "purple up" and I have been doing this since the tank started ten moths ago. All parameters are within normal range except for temperature which sometimes has been bouncing up to the lower 80s the past few weeks(also before I got the clam).

the flame may be a problem later, if not now. if he looks ok now, just place him on a small flat rock to attach to, then you can move him around later.
