does anyone know if there are any corals in a reef tank that could sting or injure a clam? (crocea, maxima, or squamosa) Or vice versa - can a clam mantle injure any particular coral if they touch? Thanks in advance.
I think it depends on the clam personally. My corcea hated being touched by my torch but is touched by my hammer every now and then and doesnt really care. My derasa doesnt really care what touches him. I dont think that clams can hurt corals. They dont have any stinging qualities so its just a matter of if your clam minds being stung by other corals or not. I hope this helped a little. i am not the most knowlegable reefer on here but these have been my experiences.
clams shouldn't be placed next to corals with sweepers or that use chemical warfare. the stinging of the corals will not kill the clam right away but in time the stress of being continually stung will have a negative effect on the clam often leading to death.
