clams and medicine ??

Hey, I am having a redslime break out in my older tank wich is now about 6 allmost 7 months and I have a clam in there that I have had for a while. I want to dose the tank to remove the red slime but will it harm the clam at all ? the medicine is supose to be reef safe. Any help would be great

Instead of using chemicals why don't you just increase water flow in the area of the red slime?
