Does anyone know or seen any studies as to the effectiveness of Clams filtering nitrates?

Thanks
Don

I would be very cautious about comparing our tansk with a controlled scientific tank. We add things and do things to our tanks that they do not. Just make sure you're comparing apples with apples.

Hey Don

will this help?

http://www.spc.int/coastfish/News/Trochus/Trochus8/Trochus8-07.htm

Thanks I'm just finishing reading that article. If I did the math right the two test tanks are about 265 gallons and the gigas weighs in at about 80lbs. Thats alot of clam!
A 14" gigas does not weigh near that much. Closer to 5 lbs would be my guess. I wonder just how big of gigas was used for the study.

Thanks
Don

Looking at the numbers in the article, I would guess more like 20 lbs.

The largest calm ended up a little over 94 lbs. Wow
