clams and sandstorms

I have a decent amount of flow in my tank which occasionally picks up some sand onto my clam. I know that this can't be good for it, but is it a big deal?

The oceans and reefs in the wild are very dynamic ecosystems. A few grains of sand falling on you clam will most likely not cause any problems for a healthy specimen

if sand is constantly be deposited on the clam it will cause problems. the oceans are very dynamic, however sand storms aren't a very common occurrences on reefs. sure the reefs will become turbid with large storms but most of the time they are very clear. if your pumps are kicking up sand more times then not ,you need to correct this
