Clams and Starfish?

I like clams and am researching what it will take to add some to my 65g reef tank. Meanwhile, my wife wants to add starfish to the tank (too much SpongeBob???) I'm wondering if the two are compatible?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

some starfish feed on clams.
what type clam do you want?
what type starfish do you want?

Right now we're in the discussion stage, so everything is negotiable. Are there combinations of clams and starfish that will work?

the most important thing's are, what are your tank conditions(size, age, lighting, filtration, water parameters, other inhabitants(fish, crabs, shrimp)) these things should be considered first- will they support a clam( what type of clam).

then the same thing for the starfish.

clams wont eat starfish but some stars will eat clams, corals. so you need to look into the starfish you might want and see what there needs are, and then we can go from there.

Stay away from "knobby stars" (Chocolate chip, Red General) most thick bodied stars will eat clams. Haven't heard of Linkias or "Red Thorny" stars are of as long as the clam is large.
