Clams and T5's

Simple question

With a 72 Bowfront and a NovaExtreme T5 setup (216watt) can you keep clams?

And if so what type and at what positioning in the tank?

Yes, but I'd avoid crocea/maxima as the Nova doesn't have individual reflectors. I speak from experience. I had the same fixture on my 55g, and it was more than fine for my derasa, but my croceas didn't look good under it. I upgraded to a Tek T5 fixture and now the croceas are looking better. You could almost definitely keep derasas, squamosas and gigas clams in your existing setup. Gigas get big though I believe, so I'd try a derasa first and see how it does for a few months.
