Clams Clams and CLams

Barry-
Great looking clams! What are the specs of your clam tank (lights, filtration, etc)? Also, do you have a pic of your clam tank for us to see?

SAMZ,

My clam holding tank is a 60 long (17")tall with 80lbs of LR and eggcrete about the middle of tank to be closer to HQIs. Have a 29gal lemar for a sump with sand in it so I can place small T. derasa and squamosa and have 2 PC over that tank.

Am looking at a square tank, all open top 36"x36"x24" for my addtional holding tank. Most likely run a few 400ers over it with some actinic suppliments.

Yellotang,

Looked at your site, very nice looking tank. With that 400 watt setup you should have no problem keeping clams. :)

 whats the clam holding tank for?

is it to quarintine them before they get put in your display? or are you importing clams and selling them?

Thank you, I am concerned about their care and water quality care more then anything.

I am able to grow and keep sps but have always thought clams are more difficult to keep.

Yellotang, My 180 is a dominated SPS/clam tank and IMO and IME clams are easier to keep as long as you have high ca as you would SPS. Intense lighting.

A holding tank is one that houses clams before shipping.
