Clams consuming nitrates?

Clams Direct has them often, and they have interesting patterns I think one is a must for any giant clam collection

The same thing happens to me by the time I get home from work all the best clams are gone. Barry does say that Hippopus uses more nitrates and less light than the other clams, I have had several conversations on the phone about that and all the good ones being gone before some even get the newsletter.

I agree with Mbbuna. Hippopus are found naturally at like 5 meters or so, never very deep. This translates to intense light. I do not think they consume more nitrate, they just utilize a lot maore of the carbon their zoox make in order to make that giant thick vlave. So, their energy production to consumption rate is skewed more so than some other tridacnids.
