clam's foot detached

I came home and my clam looked not happy. I touched it and it was loose!!

The foot has detached and the mantle does not look damaged.

The only thing I have added is a VERY small cleaner shrimp and no other livestock or coral in the past 3 months. Also I have had this clam for 2 years with no prolems.

Is there any hope in saving it?

In the picture it appears that the clam didnt close when you picked it up. That is a pretty bad sign IME. Pics of the top/mantle would be very useful.

possibly, maybe, hopefully, but not very likely it's just the byssal threads. do u hav a pic of the foot it left behind??

You can see the foot to te bottom left of the clM in the first picture. The clam closed somewhat but not completely when I picked it up.

I like long shots, so I'd keep my fingers crossed and give it about two or three very undisturbed days. If the foot (and not just the bysall threads) is gone, the clam won't make it.

Well obviously I can hope for you but I really don't think it's gonna make it if it isn't already gone already... Sorry

Thanks for all the input everybody. I was in a rush this morning and it had fallen to the sand. If it does not look any better I am going to remove it from the tank when I get off work.

Again thanks.
