It did some serious damage to the clam. The clam quickly went downhill and later died. While I can not be 100% certain it was completely the sting that caused its demise, I remain very suspicious.
From what I understand, as long as there's no physical contact, there's no problem. I just recently read something to the effect that clams are almost immune to chemical poisoning from corals.
my clams haev been in contact with my hammer, open brain, and a bunch of other softies...no problemo. My clams actually bounce around until they gain light dominant position compared to which ever coral they are fighting for space with....cute little suckers...
