clams usuly spawn(in an aquarium) do to some form of stress,like a large water change,bulb change,ph spike ect.
it can foul your quick so you may need to run some extra carbon or do a water change.

I had 5 clams start doing it one night. Thank goodness they were all less than 4 inches at the time.

Fish and corals ate well.

Yeah, if they are big they can do some real nice damage to your water quality.
