My melanarus wrasse died and looking to get a couple clams again.
Last time I bought any I was getting 6inch derasa for $50 and 6inch crocea's for $60-70

How do prices compare in todays market? Any LFS with a good selection?

I don't know club reef's prices but they might be a little higher than what you posted. When I bought my derasa clam in mid 2015 I paid $60 for a 4". Maybe you will have more luck than me.

I didn't quote any price. I don't know what they are asking for them.

Aquarium arts has 25 clams. Mostly blue with some green. $200 or two for $300. They have a lovely blue Haddoni also.

Will a Melanurus pick at a clam? I have a Melanurus and was thinking about getting a Maxima. He doesn't touch any of my CUC though, but I wouldn't want to take a chance with a $90 clam.

No, no risk to clams directly, but if the clam has pyramidal snails it may flip the clam to eat them.

I haven't ever noticed a pyramid snail in my tank.
But years ago right after the Wrasse addition I went on vacation for 4-5 days and came back to shells.
So I say Melanarus was the culprit

Interesting enough, but since also all my lps and the few mushrooms I have left have ballooned. Everything else the same.

Maybe its bc of tank size. Its a 29 tall.

Also since I have noticed flatworms and haven't introduced anything new. Bummer

I have heard people doing ok with inverts and Melans too. Mine would take out my CUC except turbos and Astraeas
