So how many of you have clams now? How long, what kind, and all that good stuff?

I know I am going to just buy a clam book and get the basics from that I am sure, but I would like to know more about them from you all as well. I have always wanted a clam, and I am ready to learn what I can.

I have had crocea and squamosa clams. Just make sure you have enough light and no fish that like to nip at the mantles.

I now have 6 clams... 1 Gigas 12", 3 Croceas 3"-6", 1 Teardrop gold Maxima 5", and 1 blue Maxima 3". Once clams are over 3" in length, all they need to grow is good mh lighting and stable calcium and alk. They also like not being preyed upon. Once they are happy in a certain spot in your tank they don't like to be moved much. Good Luck.

I have a gigas and a squamosa. The GF has two Croceas. I htink I have had mine for about a year and hers for a couple months. Actually Scott has my clams. lol

The best book I think is "Giant Clams in the Sea and the Aquarium"
by James Fatheree.

He's giving a talk at MACNA this year also, i can't wait for that one, did I mention MACNA? That show is the bomb.
