Clarify Molt Process

Ok, I have been in the hobby for about 2 years and I know about molts, but I was wondering if the molts of the invertibrates like the molts of the shrimp and hermit crabs have memory cells or are alive. I saw this molt of my zebra hermit crab today, and I could have sworn it was the real thing. The molt was flinching and moving. This is where I found the molt, do they twitch or move or something?

Nope. Molts are dead skin. It may have been blown by the current.

I am pretty sure it's the movement of whatever was munching it. kinda like the roadkill moving with mice underneath....
