Clark clown dies after 13 years

Bad news....my female clark died. I found her at the bottom corner of the tank when I woke up yesterday. I have no idea why. Water tests are fine, no signs of illness, all other life is fine. I had the pair for almost 5 years and bought them from a friend who had them for 8 years. So I'm not sure of their actual age. Pics in my gallery.

My problem now is what to do with my male. I've never had to replace one of a pair after this length of time. How long before he changes to a female? Do I buy a large clark and hope for a female or let the males battle it out? Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

I would assume that after 13+ years, your male is fairly large...perhaps adding a small CB juvenile and allowing the male to take over the role of the female as he would in nature is your best and easiest course of action.

So sorry to hear about your loss.

I would think the same as Tyler, get a juvenile Clark and your male will most likely take over as the female.
