Spawning Clarki pair

Clarkii2.jpg

they look almost black. my friends clarkii has gone from a beautiful yellow color to almost black in the mast months so i wonder if this is a common occurance.

They were very small when I got them about 1 1/4 in and where very dark so I guess they just stayed that way. the male is almost completely black but the female has more yellow.

Thank you still trying to take some better pictures. It seems quite tricky to get good pictures of them anyone have any suggestions on fish photography

I have no camera tips, but I want to share too.

Some older picture of my pair, I have had them for about 4+ years now. First picture is of them spawning ( about every 3-4 weeks ) and the other picture is of the male.

Beautiful fish. I love clarkii's. Hopefully I can get mine (not paired yet, but they're working on it) to stay still enough so I can take some pictures tonight.

so i guess there not always black when they get older as i thought. but i guess there are different color variations with in the same type of fish. nice pics by the way.

what are they hosting in? it looks like a leather coral, but Im not 100%, because it also looks like you have at least 2 carpet anemones in the same tank with them.

Yup there is three carpets in the tank, they are all on top of each other in the middle of the tank. They have been this way for about a year. I call it the clown Hotel. There is a Green, a blue and the gigantica.

Did you buy your clark's paired or did you do it yourself?

I have been trying to pair mine but they just don't do it. They don't kill each other, he even quivers for her, but she just won't let him come to the anemone. I don't know what gives.

You have any tips on how to pair them?..I know the method for maroons, just curious if the clarks are any different.

Thanks.

is that a toadstool they are hosting???

because i have a pair of orellis and woundered if they would host it?

nice pair:)

To say I paired them would imply that I had much to do with it I really just bought two small juveniles and they grew into a pair.

Sorry Vlamingi3, i wasn't trying to say that. What i was trying to say is if you did anything special as in the case of maroons. That's all. I wish i can catch my female, i would throw her in the sump for a while and let the male adjust to the anemone, put her back and see what happens. But they are so quick. Who knows maybe with age things will get better.

my male died so i got a new captive breed male it too about 3 months but now they are fuuly paried up, always together. but it was tough going for a while the female whos twice the size of the male wouls chase him so bad for a while, but eventually they got closer and closer.
