Clarkiis

Does anyone know a source for a spawning pair of clarkiis, or any other species in that complex, such as akyndinos, bicinctus, tricinctus etc? Willing to pay fair market value, need to be spawners though. Your help is much appreciated.

might try and pick up a pair of retired fish from ORA or another large supplier. sometimes they come up for sale.

Thats a possibility, but I've never come across any of their retirees around here, although I live only about 15 min from ORA. If someon has a pair they are trying to get rid of, let me know, I will organize shipping and all. thanks.

I haven't really seen a "market" price for breeding pairs, because #1, everyone wants them, and #2, there isn't a huge market for pricing. Meaning not a LOT of people sell breeding clowns.


However, I have found 3 pairs of breeding clowns, NOT Clarkii's though. Normal Occelaris - and IMO, below "market" price. They are priced about $30 more than a normal "mated" pair. A good value if you just wanted to breed them for fun.


Usually, as I've seen it, it breaks down in pricing like this:


1) single
2) pair
3) mated pair
4) breeding pair

I was hoping for someone who has them in their home aquarium who does not breed fish and would be willing to sell them for an "above" average price. This is a species I've always wanted to raise, and now I have a bit more time to try it.

clarks are not hard to pair. my very first clarks I got when they were 2.5 inches and they paired off very quickly. a year later they laid eggs every two weeks like clockwork. I miss those guys I should have kept them.

I think your 3 and 4 should be the same to avoid confusion. They pretty much mean the same thing. Maybe bonded pair instead of mating pair.
