Clean SUMP with Wet/Dry Vac?

Hi All,

Something tells me this is a dumb question...but here goes.

I have a new (don't even remember where I got it) wet/dry vac rig that is made specifically to sit on a standard 5 gallon bucket like those you get from Lowes or Home Depot.

Can I use this to clean out the detrius in my sump? Literally plug it in, SUBMERGE the hose into the sump and start vacumming the bottom?

Or are these only made to slurp up spills?

Thanks!

Been there, done this quite a few times. It works very well when trying to get all the sand out of a tank.

Ive done it in the past when I had my 125g setup. It works nice at removing detritus and also aids in a water change. I would suck everything out of my sump when doing it...

I have just added a couple Tunze to my sump to increase water movement and stop the detritus from settling.
