Clean Up Crew Questoin

Okay so my 65 Gallon Mixed Reef tank is 2 months Old.

I have Yellow Damsel, Azure Damsel, 2 True Clowns (Tank Bred with cool marking) And a Hawk Fish. Coral Are Hammer, Toad, Star Polyp, Finger Leather, and Gorgan

So for my Clean up Crew I had 4 Peppermint (Spotted Hawk ate them) serveral Small Serths (Sand sifters) Blue and red Hermits, Mexican Turbos, Turbans and other type of smaller Snail (Round pyramid Type Shell).

So the question is I know notice that I have a lot empty Shells from the hermits and the small Cerths is this common is something killing them (I heard hermits might be eating things)? Is there other clean up crews than eat detritus beside hermits? I seem to have a lot of snail detritus everywhere?

Nassarius snails are detritivores. They're also somewhat active and fun to watch (especially at feeding time as they emerge from the sand!) and will help sift your sand as well. I'm not a big fan of hermits personally (I currently have one that hitchhiked in disguised as a nassarius snail).

That what they are called Nassarius snails sorry I was calling them cerths I had several small ones but now they do not come up anymore during feeding and there a more than a few empty shells so I don't know how they are dying. I read somewhere about fighting Conchs but I the local Fish Stores tell me that they would eat smaller snails and crabs.

Are your hermits for sure dying as well? Or are they just switching shells? Hermits will definitely kill snails for their shells...

Yeah there definitely empty shells I have about 4 empty Hermit Shells, And 5 Nassarius snails Shells Empty. And 2 Large Snail Shells that are empty but I believe those or because I found them upside down and they were dead. Have about a handful left of Hermits and no Clue on the Nassarius snails as they don't seem to come up from the ground anymore. Last Water Change on Last Sunday was around 10 to 20 Nitrates, And 0 on the ammonia and Nitrite.

I have heard so many different things about cleaning crews and them attacking corals and that red legs are better then blue leg hermit crabs any ideas i dont like the way snails look on the glass
