I had a bunch of snails in my 30 gallon that died
not sure why they were fine, and now they're all dead

so I need a new clean up crew

all I have now is a fighting conch

what should I add?

foxface
pistol shrimp
yellow watchman goby
2 false clownfish

it's just live rock for now haven't stocked any coral yet

ph 8.2
salinity 1.024
ammonia 0
nitrites 0
nitrate 40ppm

^ trying to get that lower

I would just keep up with your regular water changes and let the bristle worms take care of the rest. As far as adding any of the fish/invertebrates on that list above goes, a pair of Ocellaris clowns is always a nice addition. Just make sure you've gotton a handle on those paramters first though. GL.

I would use some hermits if that was my tank but that's because I overfeed and they keep all the food in check also, how big is the conch the conch may be able to take care of it on its own if not get some hermits or snails if you have something against hermits. Btw pistol shrimp can be known to kill stuff when they get big how big is yours?

Are those fish what are currently in the tank? If so I can probably see why your nitrates are that high as foxfaces are pretty prolific poopers so to speak and it will quickly outgrow that tank as IMO they need at least a 100g. I'm assuming that is your tank in your profile pic, if so do you have any additional filtrated besides what rock is there?
