cleaner shrimp quest???

i have a 90 gal reef tank with 180lbs of LR and a coral banded shrimp if i purchase a cleaner shrimp will the 2 fight bc my coral banded is agresive it took down my yellow tang one time.. but i am courious bc the cleaner would b helpful to my fish and itss more active

Cleaner shrimp are pretty alert. I see he's in a large tank with quite a bit of rock, he should be fine. In my 220g, I have a coral banded with 7 cleaner shrimp, 4 peppermint shrimp, and a blood shrimp.

I've watched him roam about in the day before. If he gets close to one of the shrimp, he'll open his claws and move towards the shrimp. However, the shrimp are smart enough to get out of the way, and the coral banded won't persue it for more than a couple of inches. I've had no issues so far.

One thing to keep in mind is that I keep the coral banded well fed. Every few days, he gets a piece of scallop that's about the size of a smartie. If he's well fed, he'll be less likely to pursue anything aggressively.

ok thankss i fed him frozen prawn i rest it on the bottom under a rock where he sits and usualy molts and he eats that but i do this only once a week is that eoughh

I usually go out of my way to make sure he get a piece about twice a week. The rest of the time he gets to hunt for scraps like the rest of the shrimp. I feed enough that some food hits the bottom so the shrimp can get it. It really depends on how much you feed the tank I guess.
