We have 2 skunk cleaner shrimp that about 2"- 3"

Son#1 likes to put his hand in the tank, once a day, and lets the shrimp "clean" his hand, then when he is done he gives them both a piece of Formula two flake as a "thank you" to them.

Now Son #2 is grumping that you should not do that.

Is there anything wrong with what Son#1 is doing?

I woudlnt think it would cause any harm. As long as he's careful and doesn't harm the shrimp.

Does the shrimp seem to mind?

Not sure how old you son is, but i would tell him to wash his hands afterwards =).

As long as son 1 doesn't have soap or residue of harmful substances; or anything on his hand. Some people argue about the oils the hand creates, also. I've not had any problems myself. I do know of people accidently introducing soap though.

Cheers

I would make sure your son doesn't have any cuts or scratches on his hands before putting them in the tank. Every few months I seem to find a new thread about someone having caught parasites or infections from the tank water.

That being said, I like letting my shrimps clean my hands :). I just remembered this Imax movie where a woman has her teeth cleaned by a shrimp.
