Cleaner Shrimp

My skunk cleaner nor my blood red shrimp do nothing any more. They are out of a job for the past year due to my blue streak cleaner wrasse..

never seen my blood clean anything. most of the time it hides deep int he rockwork. i was thinking of getting a blue steak in my new tank. do you like the fish. whats your thoughts

Helpful, not really. I remember as a kid it jumping on to "clean" some fish, but largely they just steal food.

Now entertainment value? Pretty high. Fun to watch with their antics.

I have a skunk in my 5 gallon pico reef. I like it. It has learned how to grab the flake food that i feed to my clowns. It perches upside down just below the surface and grabs floating flakes as it gets close to it. Then it goes down to find bits of food that the clowns missed. It keeps the tank clean by eating left over food. Once the feeding is over, it goes to his favorite spot and stays there all day long. It rarely bothers my corals between feedings. Perhaps yours is always hungry and is looking for food all day long? Mine molts maybe every 2 to 3 weeks. Is yours molting regularly? If not maybe its constantly looking for food?

I love mine. My kole tang lets him clean him. I feed him with the tweezers so he'll leave the corals alone. Big fan of my fire shrimp too, he's beautiful even if he doesn't do too much.

I have one in my 10 gallon, but I want to get rid of him. I had 1 in all of my larger tanks and he had plenty of room to not bother my corals, but in such a small tank he really has nowhere to go other than land on my corals and annoy them into closing up.

Can't really get myself to do it though because they are so fun to watch...

I love cleaner shrimp and fire shrimp. I have 5 cleaners and 1 fire in my 210, I also have 4 or 5 peppermint sin there... But like ssick92 said I think they need a little space to roam so they don't bug corals. Mine don't seam to bother corals much.
