tell us more about your tank, lighting and we will see if there's anything there that might be causing the deaths

55 gallon tank 48inch outer orbit light over 500wattts.
feed phtoplankton 2 times a week, moderate flow. 4 cleaner shrimps in tank. also use the araimilk from crib-sea twice a week.

I had a cleaner shrimp, where a few times, it picked on a crocea clam, it would actively dig into its mantle and the clam would stay closed for a while after. the shrimp didn't mess with any of my maximas or the other crocea though, just this one. while rare, it isn't unheard of for cleaner shrimps to pick sometimes, but keep in mind that it's very rare. the shrimp ended up getting eaten by a hungry lord, but the problems only really lasted about a week, the clam was also relatively new in the tank

what kind of clams have you had, what fish do you have ,what is the K rating of the bulbs you have, what filtration do you have, do you have a skimmer,do you have a fuge, how long has the tank been up,whats your PH,Ca/Alk,Nh3/Nh4,No2,No3

I had a cleaner shrimp that picked at the mantle of a maxima. The clam would close up and blast water out of the tank trying to chase the shrimp away. When the clam stayed shut the shrimp would try to reach into the shell. I saw the shrimp pull what looked like a piece of mantle out of the shell, so I caught the shrimp and put it in another tank. The maxima was fine after that.

Maybe the cleanershrimp was doing me a favor by eating a damaged part of the clam or perhaps I was not feeding the tank enough? But I didn't want to take any chances, cause I love my clams!
