I have read that article before and do understand where the author is coming from.
That said, I bought mine four years ago, before I knew about this, and he is alive and well today. Besides eating just about any food I put in the tank, his tanks mates eagerly dock to be cleaned. It's quite a sight to see.

In the wild, they are know to eat almost exclusively gnathid iospods. That makes up about 3/4 of their diet. The last 1/4 is scaled and fish mucus that comes off with the isopods.
