Cleaning algae off of an Acan lord

What is the best way to clean a little algae off of an Acan lordhowensis? I have one with a little algae on it and would like to clean it off. It is a nice purple/lavendar color, but is looking a little greenish/yellow in a few areas. I got worried and I took it out to take a pic to post, but once I got it out of the water, I could see it was algae.

I figured a really soft bristled brush would do the trick, but I wanted to ask first.

is it on its skeleton? I can't picture algea growing on the flesh of the coral.
