I'm at the point in my 90 where coraline algae is starting to form on the back glass. I'm curious to get the consensus from you guys and gals on whether or not you clean your back glass or let the coraline run its course.

I clean it off because I feel the tank looks nicer against a clean black background - too much coraline and it seems to drown out the tank.

I agree that I prefer the look of clean glass throughout the aquarium, even though that can be difficult to maintain

I know I'm in the minority but I leave mine alone. Personally I like the way it looks. Makes the glass blend in with the rocks. Also The less I need to interfere with the tank the better. Less chance of accidentally making frags and disturbing anything.

I was actually going to make a thread about this but I'll post here instead.

I had left my back glass alone with coraline algae and green algae which looked ok but with some spare time last night, I decided to scrap it off. My tank looks a million times better. Now the main focus point is the inhabitants and the rockwork. Clean and great look now.

I also recommend this product if you hate scrapping the glass and getting your hands/arms wet. You can get it at BRS for $13. Called Easy Blade Algae Scraper.

Also a before and after pic of Coraline Algae.
