My sump has a compartment in which I have a large mass of chaeto growing. This mass of algae has collected some deturius (sp) and I was wondering if I should clean it out.

This happens to mine one and a while.
When I do a water change I shake it in the old water I pulled out of the tank. That way I don't kill any of my pods and such.
