what do you use to clean your equipment(powerheads, pump,ect.)

I usually just wipe mine down with paper towels and fresh water. Takes the salt creep away and gets them clean without worrying about contaminants.

I have heard that you can use a mixture of water and viniger has anyone tryed tis and did it have any ill affects?

I use vinnegar all the time. This is what I do: I disassemble powerheads and place them in vinnegar. Then let it soak for 24 hours, then scrub dirty parts with toothbrush. Rinse them in fresh water, re-assemble, dry and put it back in tank. No ill effects whatsoever.
