cleaning power heads

what do you use to clean coraline algae off your power heads and how long does it take. what do you need to due before you put them back into the tank.:

Vinegar works but, i'm to impatient to soak for 1 or 2 days and you still have to use some elbow grease on stubburn areas.
Go buy a gallon of muriatic/hydrocloric acid from a swimming pool co. Lowe's. HD or hardware store. I maintain a large jug diluted with water to 20%. I clean everything from tanks, protein skimmers, pumps etc. with a quick 1/2 hr. soak a brief scrub and a good rinse with tap water. Don't be shy! it's the same acid you and the fish have in their stomachs from what I've been told.

Think 12 hrs in vinegar will do the trick. Just make sure you take suction cups off it will start to eat them after a while

I agree with kdblove........I start soaking before I go to bed and in the morning they are good to go......I use hot water with the vinegar it seems to speed up the process

cleaning power heads

thanks for the replies. I used the vinegar in hot water and drop the power head in a 5 gallon bucket over night with it on. It worked great. Thanks for all the replies.
