Cleaning silencer on Vertex alpha cone 250

Hi there, my vertex alpha cone has been making some weird noises (flushing or water level bouncing) lately and if I remove the silencer it seems to working better, obviously it makes more noise in the air intake tube.

Can you clean the inside of the silencer and if so how can I do it?

The white top (or black top depending how old your unit is) of the silencer is removable. Take a sharp knife and work it between the white top and the red body of the silencer and it will come off. It's not glued. Most likely the sponge inside is dirty.

I'd also suggest throwing the sponge away. You'll get slightly more noise out of it, but not enough to really make a difference and you won't have to worry about it clogging as frequently.
