cleaning the body

:) As was said, get a bulb blower to start - the Giottos Rocket Blower is a popular and very good one. Absolutely never use canned air on the inside of a camera, you can destroy a camera in very short order by using canned air (just as a warning). You can also pick up a sensor cleaning kit too while you're at it.

Myself for lenses, I use lens tissue paper with some lens cleaner. To clean the lens I first start out with my blower and blow the glass off to get any loose grit removed. Then I take a piece of lens tissue and hold it by the corners so no oils from my hands make it to any part of the tissue that'll be contacting the lens. Hold it away from the lens and dampen it lightly with cleaner. Swab the glass, and follow up with several dry tissues. :) You don't want to spray cleaner directly on the lens as some could make it inside the body of the lens in which case it'll be a problem. Much better to use a swab - the reason I like tissues more than a microfiber cloth which you see a lot is that when I'm done with my tissues I throw them away and are done with them. With a cloth that grit will be trapped in it when you clean the lens again and again and again.
