Well i found new homes for all my living buddies...now how do i clean all this equipment??? i heard somewhere on here that i can use vinegar to clean my powerheads? is that so? what type? any suggestions for easy cleanup of my skimmer, fuge, & powerheads would greatly be appreciated...

I have soaked powerheads in regular white vinegar overnight and it works pretty well. I actually diluted it 50/50 with water.

You can get a new sponge to scrub things with warm water (No Soap). I found that the dollar store carries the natural cheeper ones, which would probably be best for what we do.

The dollar store also carries steel scrubbing balls without soap on them. The beauty of the dollar store, they come with no extras (Soap).

Good luck in School Nick,
Tim

thanks for the replies!

i will try the half water and half vinegar....no ro/di right :) do i need to disassemble them first? of just grop em in? is is safe on acrylic? i need to clean my skimmer as well

tim thanks! i'll need it :)

you can use straight vinegar, but i never seem to have enough so i dilute it and it works fine. it just needs to be acidic enough to dissolve the calcium buildup. I usually use a clean tooth brush to scrub them clean.

I'd love to clean my now "special edition" pink SEIOs but I would barf just thinking of using Vinegar. Is there anything else that would do?
