clear screen top for wrasse question

So I've recently added a mccosker flasher and plan to soon add a firefish pair, and a scotts fairy/exquisite fairy, so i have stapled grey fiberglass screen door material to my wooden canopy to secure the tank. How much light is this grey screen actually supressing? Is it worth getting clear transparent screen? If so, where is the best place to find clear screen?

I have one half my tank covered with the BRS clear screen and the other half with a black 5/16" black mesh screen. The slightly larger black screen lets in more light than the BRS 1/4" mesh clear screen. I would think window screen mesh would block even more light.

I made BRs's clear screen cover with aluminum extrussions from Home Desperate. LOve It and it lets all light in. Made 2 side screens with sunshaded screen for blocking light from hurting your eyes attached with hinges to the light that is 4 inches off the top of the tank....

I too use the quarter inch on one of my displays... which worked fine for about a year, but the center right underneath the 250 watt halide became brittle and broke apart. It's an easy swap out though so I just bought a bunch and now change it out... and easy way to give a slick look to an open top tank while still saving your fish!

On my display above this I use the same mesh but with a T5 fixture, and the mesh does not get brittle... so it appears to be just under the halide... this could potentially be catastrophic though if it's not changed as a fish could brake through the top and land on top of the netting... I had this happen years ago with a Cirrhilabrus threading the needle through eggcrate and landing on top... kicking it... :( so go with the 1/4"... if you think your fish cannot fit through the 1/2" think again... it can!

I would like to see what snorvich says. I have read that they are peaceful as well, but I trust you albano. You have lots of wrasses to go around lol!!! I can't wait to get to the point of adding my wrasses, about 4-8weeks out depending on how long my restart takes and how long the cycling process takes...

what does "OT" mean?

and any confirmation on this? liveaquaria and others say peaceful. i knew about sixlines. scotts are just as bad?

This is a little off topic, but I had a large 160 gallon tank with a large mature Sixline wrasse. It disappeared for many months, so I assumed it was dead. I added a small juvenile sixline wrasse. A few months later I saw them swimming around the tank as a pair. I kept the pair for a couple years before I broke down that system. They were best friends.
