Clearseal reef space 900 upgrade

hi fellow marine enthusiasts. So like all of us I wanted to go bigger and I was fed up of my loud sump setup on my lido nano tank also so I bought a Clearseal reef space 900 and some nice gear to go with it.

I was eyeing up the tmc signature 900 first of all but come across some bad feedback on it on the net about the front and rear glass bowing and the stand sagging so it put me off. Then my lfs got one of these in and it was perfect. Looks the same as the tmc but 50l more, 10mm glass instead of 8, a better overflow, Centre stand support, more heavy duty cabinet, black background, bigger sump and £100 cheaper. What more can you ask for.

My local fish store also chucked in a return pump, silicone pipes for free and an auto top up for half price.

So along with my tank Iv got a few fancies new and second hand but in Mint condition.

Maxspect razor 160w 16k
Reef octopus 110 skimmer
300w heater
Oceanlife overflow
Tmc v2 2200 pump
Tmc v2 vecton 600 Uv
Tmc v2 auto top up
Tunze 6015 powerhead with silent bracket
Fluval sea powerhead

All I need now is a 90 degree elbow for my Uv and I'm finished. I will also be adding a bm 70 phosphate reactor in the future.

Once cycled I will start adding everything from my old lido 120 tank.

Current lido 120 setup.

Just a quick question for the experts. I'm thinking of growing algae in the centre section of my sump to eat up all the phosphates and nitrates. What do you think on this?

Elbow just turned up so now I'm all plumbed in and ready to go in time for the weekend.

Sadly I'm not getting anywhere with this at the moment. Filled the tank last night with ro water from my lfs and it stunk of rotten fish so it had to all come back out agen. Anyone know why it smelt like this?

It's all finally up and running and cycling thanks to a very good friend of mine supplying me with 325l of 0tds ro water. I'm using red sea coral salt at a salinity of .25 and I can't knock the red sea as after using it on a water change on my old tank the other week then my nems and corals looking better than ever just a day later I'm very impressed with it.

So tank is looking great right now and Running great apart from I need to install a gate valve on the overflow as its a bit noisy at the moment and needs a complete siphon.

Some pics of how it's looking guys.

Great start, looking good. I'm no expert, but I will chime in regarding your question. If you are planning to start a refugium, it will absorb some No3 and Po4, but not really that much considering the size of your tank. I would rely more on the tried and true methods of exporting nutrients ( frequent water changes, GFO, Carbon and controlled feedings). By the way how did you get the sump in your stand?

thanks for the comments guys.
Regarding getting the sump in Well luckily the centre support only had one screw top and bottom so was easy to get out. No chance now the tanks full though.

I will be adding a bubble magus mini 70 running phosban in the return pump section, I'm just waiting on stock to come in.

I'm not sure what it is in gallons but the tank its self is 250l 900 wide by 450 deep by 450 high.

Bought a reef octopus mf-300b media reactor and some rowaphos to run in it over the weekend. I mush admit I'm very impressed with the reactor seeing as it was the cheapest one I could find. It has plenty of connections and seems to flow through the media very well and can by adjusted to give it plenty more power.

I also bought a cheap Chinese led light for my sump and I am also very impressed with that. It's extremely bright and gives off a really nice colour light.

essex when you quote and post pics from tapatalk you have to go right back and edit and send for them to show up. Otherwise you just get links.

cleaned up some of my live rock from my old tank and added them to the new setup. it isn't the finished result yet as I still have 3 big interesting rocks in my old tank Im wanting to add once I have moved the fish and corals over.

Had some more Rocks left over from the old tank so I changed the aquascape so I could fit them as the more Rock the better. I must admit I like the aquascape I had before but I think my new one is still good.

My old tank started to crash from neglect and I had to transfer my 3 bta's and one of my corals including my only fish left which was my firefish. But everything looks happy and healthy now so that's a good thing and my water parameters are spot on constantly.

I have also added a lot of different clean up crew with a selection of crabs, snails and shrimp that are doing a Great job.

I will keep you all posted as I progress.

i think you will need more skimming power than the nwb 110. I am running roughtly 70-75 gallon (265L - 283L) setup, heavily stocked, and the 110 isn't pulling as much as I would like.
