"Click" "Click" ...what is that noise?

I have a 3 month old system, last night I got up at about 1am and was looking in the tank with a flash light....when I start to hear these clicking sounds..... in series of 2 clicks. I heard it a couple of times while I was up.

I have heard that mantis shrimp make this noise...I not sure if anything else does thoug.

My tank has some fish, cleanup crew, cleaner shrimps....and nothing seems to be missing....although I have not seen a couple of hitch hiker crabs in a while.

Im thinking that I might have a small hitchhiker mantis shrimp, and if so, would like to trap it before it start to take its toll on my livestock.

What is the best way to trap these little monsters...

...or confirm that I ever have one. Dont they stay close to the floor?

Mantis are, generally speaking, diurnal (awake during the day). Pistols will often click at night. Snails, hermit and hitchhiker crabs could also make these type of noises against the glass or a powerhead...

I dont have any pumps in the tank......

And it is no a shell against that glass....as I have heard that nois e before.

It is a earey clicking noise every so often, .....I hope it is a pistol shrimp
