I have to share how lucky I am feeling this morning...
I arrive at the shop a little later than normal today and as I am walking past my main system to check on my newest hatch of clowns, I realize that there is no water movement in my mom and pop tank (My main onyx pair).. Last night about 7, I unplugged the one pump that feeds all 12 of my surges on that 4 tank system. There is no other waterflow in those four tanks other than the surges. 14+ hours without water movement.
For those of you dont know my system..
tank 1 (36x36x16) mom and pop clown, 14+ year S.gigantea anemone, deep sand bed, a few corals (monties, zoas etc), peppermints, crabs and a few snails.
tank 2.. (Surge/tide tank) Pair of breeding skunk clowns, huge RBTA, Purple tang, large foxface, huge mandarin, goby/pistol combo, yellow corris, pearly jawfish, Super deep sand bed, , a few corals crabs and snails.
tank 3 (24x24x16) younger pair of onyx (with eggs), purple S.gigantea (3+ years), A few corals (Challace, zoas, acan..) Deep sand bed..
tank 4 (40 breeder) H.Magnifica (3+ years) Pair of babies that should have been culled by most standards. a few corals, birdsnest, softies...) Deep sand bed
Other than a little heavy breathing (foxface the worst) everybody/thing appears to be in good shape.
So help me pick a conclusion/moral to this story
1) I am one lucky SOB?
2) Shallow tanks kick arse
3) Surges rule!
4) deep sand beds are not the bomb, or are they!
5) giganteas and percs are found in tide pools
