i target fed my brain coral unsuccesfully for a couple months (off and on) since i have had it, today i noticed one feeder tenticle come out and take food (cyclopeze)... is this a good sign that it might start feeding now?
im not sure why only one feeder came out, but at least it did something finally.

I have an open brain (trachy geofforyi.. yeah can't spell) and its been in my tank for abouta month before its finally displaying its feeders and today i fed it its first mysis :)

the last few nights its tentacles have been coming out at lights off but some cyclopeeze this morning opened him right up and plop, a mysis near the mouth and it opened it up and let the shrimp fall in.. yum!

dont closed brains have many mouths in the crevace part of the brain is it unusual for only one mouth to have feeder tenticle come out?

i did notice more mouths, just no tenticles came out.

IME most closed brains will send feeders from most of the mouths when trying to feed, not only one. Give it time and you will probably see more of them react to the food.

My closed brains have been iffy, I have one that hasn't opened up (until last night) in the eight months I've had it, and another that opened up when I first got it, didn't open at all for about 6 months, and is now opening up again.

Last night I disconnected all of the flow in my display and used a syringe to gently lay some cyclopeeze down on top of some of my LPS. I had brains and chalices open wide that had never opened up before. I might suggest doing that.

I wouldn't worry about your brain not opening all the way, there's likely nothing wrong with it.

cool good to know, i cut a gallon milk bottle in half horizontally, put that over the brain and squirt cyclopeze into the top, it seems to keep the majority of the cyclopeze over the brain.... i turn off my skimmer when i do this.
