Closed loop ideas.

Hello guys. I have been working on flow in my now sand free 110 gal. tank. I have a diy wavebox going along with a a closed loop with a mag 24 and and eductor. The loop is over the top since the tank isn't drilled for one. I have two outputs on the closed loop but I plugged one since it seemed to get more flow with only one eductor. If I open the valve all the way it gets a ton of flow but it is pretty laminer. I was hopeing to eventually get an oceans motions or someting so I could put both eductors on and have some more turbulence. I tried a scwd one time but it cut down the flow too much and switched way to fast. How fast does an OM switch ports? I haven't seen one in action but it looks like just what I need. I really don't need even 4 ports though, two would suffice. What about a motorized ball valve? The ones I have seen are probably about the same price as an OM though. Just looking for some ideas.

The Scwd is available in a 1" version now. they are supposed to switch no more than every 6 seconds. I personally love mine, I cleaned it for the first time in 2 years the other day, and that was only because it stopped switching. I have the 3/4" one and it switches every 7-8 seconds @ 1000 gph

HTH
Mobi:D

the ony problem with the squirt is the amount of flow it can handle. I think max it did 1000gph (I dun member). Also check to be sure you can use educators on one.

Mike its a 1RPM motor on the 4-way...so my version 2 drum takes 1 minute to cycle through ports 1&2, 2&3, 3&4, then 4&1.
If you only need 2 ports you can plug 2 ports on the 4-way and still be able to use all 4 later if need be.
You cant use Penductors/Eductors on them though...they explain why in there forums on the OM site.

You are right about the actuated valves, they are going to be as much as a OM 4-way (if not higher). They switch pretty slow also. Ive been on the look-out for years for someone to want to replace one or not want it anymore on there pool system. Free is always a good way to try new things:D

The 1" SQWD might be worth looking into if its not that much and theyve fixed the head they add. But with my 3/4 SQWD I reamed the inlet and outlets 5/8 and it helped tremendously.

Personally, Id go for the 4-way, but Im biased:D
Its well worth the money IMO

I think I am going to end up with an oceans motions unit probably. I think the eductors may work with my setup since the pump really doesn't put out much pressure and I drilled out the hole in the eductor to let some more water through. It have a ton of flow but I wish I could randomize it some to keep stuff from setteling. 1 minute sounds about right for what I want.

If your planning on using it as a 2-way, and plugging the ports, the version 3 drum is the only one that would work. That would give you roughly 30sec a side...but you know you gotta use all 4 if you go that route:P

I was wrong on the switching once I thought about it some more....If your using a version 3 drum (1&3,2&4) with 2 ports plugged (either ports 1&2 or 3&4) it would actually switch roughly every 15 secs between the 2.
