Cloudy Salt Water?

Anybody experience this?

I made up about 50 gallons of RO/DI mixed in salt to about 1.026, my tub is located in the garage. After several days the water is very cloudy and no amount of additional mixing seems to clear it up. Also the water seems saltier than after the initial mix.

Is this because of the heat? I live in florida so the heat and humidity in the garage is substantial. I've tried it with both tropic marin pharmecetuical grade and instant ocean with the same result. My original tank was made with the same instant ocean and i didn't have this problem. The only thing that I can think of that was different is keeping the mixed saltwwater in the garage for a few days.

Did you add the salt to the water or the water to the salt? Adding a large quantity of salt to a small amount of water can cause the calcium to precipitate out, lowering pH to dangerous levels.

You must keep an airstone and powerhead in the tub!
If it does not circulate...you will have problems!

and remember...evaporation!

In addition to what Richard said.......using warmer water can tend to cause precipitation issues hence cloudy looking water even with salts low in calcium like Instant Ocean. You can try using cooler water initially to mix up your saltwater and also try adding the salt more slowly and making sure it completely dissolves then keep adding more to bring it up to your desired salinity.

same thing here..i mix it in the tank tho..been 3 days now..still a little coudy..will it clear up in due time? or am i sol?
