Cloudy Water :( :(

WHY is my water so cloudy. Just switch to this tank last week and the water has always been cloudy.
There are micro bubbles come for the black water outlets but none on the return pump side of the sump.

BTW what to you think of the new tank?

Could be a couple of things. New sand that was not rinsed well enough. Or it is a small cycle. When I got new sand I rinsed it and still had cloudy water for a bit. Sooner or later it will disappear. If you think it might be that put a little stress coat in your tank it should then pull out in your protien skimmer.

Is this new sand and rock?

I would just run a filter sock or similar item on your overflow and see if it helps clear things up. Also some carbon could help.

well...
about 40lb is from new to me from someone else's tank
about half the rock is new to me from someone else tank

So i will put some my filters in my sump and see want happens.

i dig it.. what size is it again? i forgot... 75?

i like the rock work man.. i wich we could figure something out, its hard to get it just right.

hope the water clears up soon, i added some more sand to our tank today and it was cloudy but its totally fine now... so it took... idk, 8 hours or so...

This might be a dumb question but have you cleaned the glass? I think every tank I've put sand in I've had to clean the glass for like a month because of the residue the sand creates. If it's not that just run some carbon it'll go away.

When did you place the new sand in this setup? The sandstorm took over a week to clear in my setup last time I did it. I definitely wouldn't have added my fish until it was done though.

You can also run fliter floss or a filter sock on the drain line to help clean up some particles. Remove them after the water clears as they can become nitrate producers.

Throw a HOT magnum on with the micron filter during the daylight hours in the tank. Turn it off at night so it does not grab all the pods

well it is about 70% better today. i am adding the carbon right now.

I will also try to clean the glass and see if i can get anything off it.
