clown acting funny

I have a 75 gallon FOWLR; I recently added a black ocellaris clown; seemed to be doing fine; this morning and again tonight, I watched him go from being mellow to suddenly jerking about - as if he ate something aweful and was trying to shake it off; he's not scraping his body against anything.

Tonight I noticed a very tiny (maybe 1/8") hair hanging onto his body - looks like it couldn't even be anything problematic; but I don't know

I have been having an ammonia problem; .50; I did a 10% change last night and a 20% change this morning; when it didn't go down by mid-day, I added turbo start 900 which is beneficial bacteria that should normalize ammonia levels within 5 days.

Any ideas? I'm very new to this!

do you have any more clowns in there? was the water that you changed have exactly the same temp and salinity as the main tank? If not, You may have shocked him with the water changes? Too much too quickly. keep an eye on that amm level and hope it doesn't go up any more. How long has your tank been established?

If all your levels check out okay and your tank has cycled all the way it might just be the fish. My two ocellaris clowns jerk around upside down and every which way. It's just their nature. Make sure its not the water, though. I'm not familiar with turbo start 900.

I have 2 small orange ocellaris also; (I hear that this may cause a problem as they mature); I have messed around with the tank quite a bit lately - now I'm keeping my hands out; had a sudden temp drop during a water change bec. when I went to add water, my pipes were frozen and I had to run up and down the stairs adding stove-top/microwave water to tap water (with proper conditioners and salt);
she seems pretty much o.k. now; the ammonia level is less than .25 - the turbo start is awesome - and I like that it's not just a chemical or bond to the ammonia - it naturally gets rid of it!

he's swimming pretty normally now; his appetite is good (gets a little aggressive around feeding time)

I think the 3 clown thing may be a problem, tho, and I'm getting used to the idea of giving him to the store
