I have a 1 1/2 year old clown in my 24g nano cube. She has been in there by herself for the past 3 months when I upgraded her tank.
Today, I noticed that she was occasionally going behind one of the rocks. This seemed a little weird, but not anything to cause alarm. Then, when I fed her, she didn't care. This is strange, because that has NEVER happened before- she's the biggest piggy alive. Normally I just open the lid and she's practically jumping out ready for food. I tried a couple of different foods- nothing- she even let them sink right in front of her.
So now I'm worried. Checked the water: pH 8.2, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5. Specific gravity and temp all normal. A little high on the nitrate, so I did a water change four hours ago and turned off the lights and have left her alone.
I just checked on her again- she's swimming at all levels of the tank and appears to be normal, but still not eating, and she is spending more time behind the rock (nothing back there, just an isolated corner).
The rock is the artificial live rock, and the only change to the aquarium was two weeks ago I added a bunch of soft corals, and a small piece of hard coral from the beach and two shells (which I boiled and scrubbed first). My only thought is that she might have had a reaction or something to one of the corals? They are zoas, mushrooms, blue anthelia and one small finger leather.
Sorry this is long winded, but I wanted to include all details that might pertain to the situation, as I hope I am catching any problems early. Or maybe I'm being a nervous mom, but I love this fish
Thanks!
