Clown choice

Looking to start my 29 with a clown. the tank is currently cycling and i am up for suggestions. BTW i have a 16 sebae anemone going in it as soon as it is stable. I was looking at a B&W, Gold Stripe Maroon, and an Orange. i'd only do one clown, but which one?

Thanks

Doesn't the sebae normally host the Clark's? (I could be pulling that out of the air, but I swear I read that somewhere.)

Having just gone through deciding on a clown, I'm partial to the B&W. I ended up choosing those over the GSM because I wanted generally peaceful tankmates.

i had a pair of orange tank raised, but from a power problem, i lost them and 3 other tanks. the Sebae is the only survivor. in addition, the clowns were hosting the sebae (after 8 months) and mating after nine...they laid eggs 4 days before the power went out... :(

I've seen with and worked with a 30+ maroon clown and would just have to say that if you go with maroon, start with a young one and plan to upgrade your tank size. She's 5" at least, maybe larger, and tears up the huge tank shes in.

I would definitely go with a Pec or Osc.. the sebae in the store that the clown hosts in is probably larger than the display area in your tank too.

I don't mean to discourage you at all but know how large these species can get! You probably wont be able to fit much else in the tank.

That's the same tank and while I dont have a really super recent picture the sebae is larger than a basketball, more like the size of a platter you put a turkey on top of. its just huge.

my 10g tank before the power loss and am going to move to a 29g.

also, the sebae covers the entire side of the rock and is about to split.

the pefect clown for you would be a true percula. i think their natural host is a seabe anemone and if so the clown would host it.

That's awful about the power loss. We've been fairly lucky lately that when we lost ours it came back within a couple of hours, but a lot of people around here lost power for a week or more recently. :(

Clowns have such wonderful personalities that it's easy to get attached to them.

I have a pair of Occelaris clows that host my sebae, The sebae is about 13" across now, and they get big as stated above.

Also I dont think that Sebae's atleast H.Crispa split I thought they didnt reproduce that way.
