Clown Compatibility w/ RTBA

I have the Black/White Ocellaris and the Orange False Perc...who have been nice to each other. The B/W has been dominant and the orange does the submissive shakes.

Since I have introduced the anemone...the B/W has called dibs and has become a little more aggressive. The orange still submits.

Do you think the B/W will eventually let the orange into the nem with her? Or should I be looking to remove the B/W and try to pair the orange up with one of the same species?

1.) I would rather keep the orange
2.) The orange goes into the anemone while the B/W isn't looking until she comes back and chases him out.
3.) If I trade the B/W out for another orange perc, should I go for a larger one since the current orange is the submissive one and will more easily fit that role?
4.) I DO NOT want to risk bringing disease into this tank...what is the proper way to prevent this?

It's normal for the larger more dominat(female)clown to not let the other smaller clown into the anemone for most of the time imo. I have several pairs of which include a pair of bw ocellaris and a pair of true percs. The smaller one isn't usually in the anemone until lights out. I'd leave them be if those are the fish you want.

yeah, they are the fish I want.

I just went for the gamble of the 2 different species because I wasn't planning on a anemone. I am just wondering if my female is being more racist than sexist.

They are the same species ( at least according to what you wrote in your first post ), the black and white one is just a color morph.

+1 Ocellaris is a False Percula

OIC. well, thank you for clearing this up.

I am going to leave her in there for a while and see if she eventually lets him in at night.

I would prefer not to get rid of the B/W, but will if she becomes too aggressive. For now, it is just the scare tactics with the darting following by shaking by the male. No touching.

I see this with my clowns as well. My female clarki won't let my male in her condy nem at all. He started hosting my frogspawn until I added a really small BTA to the tank the other day. He took right to it and is in the BTA when he's not with the female, swimming in the tank.

i have 2 oranges in my tank at first the smaller was very submissive but eventually the larger female should let the smaller one in....just give it some time... i waited almost 2 months to see both clowns in the anemone

sweet thanks guys!

Like I mentioned, they both love the nem, I just need the female to not be such a bish about it.

I have a large LTA and a small BTA. The baby Clarki owns the BTA and the Adult female owns the LTA. But the baby goes in the LTA very often . It disappears in it... But does get kicked out once in a while. Sometimes they both go in it. Is fun to watch. I would just give it some time. Also the bigger the nem the better. (More room)
