Clown Compatibility?

Hey everyone! So I've heard some mixed things between my LFS and things I've read on here and was hoping for a little clarification from people that have had experience with this specific topic. My first question is how to go about adding another clown to a 40b with 1 snowflake occellaris 1 1/4" and a midas blenny. My LFS as long as I get a clown from a group of clowns, and try to get one smaller, that there shouldn't be much issue because my clown was purchased alone and has been alone since august 2014. Has anyone had luck with this?

Also, does it matter what type of clown? I don't mean mixing saddles with occellaris, but for example a black occellaris with the snowflake, or maybe a midnight occellaris. Would those be suitable tankmates?

Finally, I don't know much about maroon clowns except that they are gorgeous! If I found a small one would it be a similar case? or are they not a type of occellaris which would make them incompatible?

Get one smaller then the one you have now. Maroons are one of the most aggressive one out there. I have a 2 inch Maroon and a 1 1/2 inch Ocellaris in my tank at the moment. They've been together peacefully for the past 4 months but at the first sign of aggression the OC clown is getting pulled to his own tank. I know it will happen, just an excuse to my wife to set up a second tank. :) Your best bet is to get a hang on specimen cup like what they place fish in at the LFS except it has holes in it for in tank water flow. Leave him in there for a few days to a week to let the old clown get used to the new one.

any ocellaris will be compatible with your ocellaris. with the exception to having two females and the occasional stubborn clown that wont submit and ends up getting killed. but in theory if you get a smaller clown out of a tank with multiple clowns there wont be an issue. but as I was saying black ocellaris, midnight, mocha, black ice, etc. will all be able to mix with each other because they are infact the same thing just different skin.
ive got a pair of clowns that consists of a black ice ocellaris (female) and a fancy Picasso percula (male) they get along great even though they are different species. from research ive found that in whole those two species can mix fairly easily though they have a problem with signals being misunderstood during their dominance dance.
from mixing with a maroon you'd best just stick with something less aggressive. im sure others have seen my past threads of me attempting to mix my ocellaris and a very small maroon. it doesn't matter how long they are buddies once the maroon matures its a different world and he wants to be the ruler of that world.
