clown dish not eating

my clown fish has stopped eating. my nitrates were high so i did a 50 percent water change. he still is not better. moved him to a quarantine tank. he is swimming more but still will not eat. any suggestions. i am new to this hobby.the other two fish, one clown and one assure blue damsal are fine.

Fish stop eating for a variety of different reasons: disease, poor water quality, being bullied by another fish, etc.

Did you test for ammonia? High nitrates would not adversely affect a fish, but any presence of ammonia would. Is this tank fully cycled?

Do you QT your fish before adding them to your display? Is the clownfish breathing heavy or have any visible symptoms of disease? How long have you had the clown?

That is too many fish for a 14 gallon tank. Even a pair of clowns need about 25 gallons.

I am having the same issue with clowns at the moment... i have 2 true percula clowns that are currently in the QT... the tank was not fully cycled when they were put in the QT (11/9) ammonia is at 0, but both nitrites and nitrates were pretty high. I have been dosing 1 tsp of amquel + and novaqua a day to assist in lessening the harshness of the levels, but the clowns will still not take any food... i am attempting to feed them mysis and fish flakes, but to no avail... any suggestions?

the clowns appear to be breathing fine and swimming normally...

Have you done a water change to bring down the ammonia? I know you added an ammonia detoxifier but sometimes the best thing to do is to get their water back in balance naturally. IME clowns are one of the easiest fish to get to eat.
